Its Not Funny Anymore - Hüsker Dü - Metal Circus (Vinyl)

Grant Hart shines with the fast-paced pop-rocker "It's Not Funny Anymore." But the real highlight of this collection is the four-and-a-half minute midtempo rocker "Diane." Written and sung by Grant Hart, it relates a true story about a girl who was raped and murdered, and does so in a harrowing fashion (check out Mould's eerie guitar interludes /5(52).

Recorded and mixed at Total Access, Redondo Beach, CA, US, December, to January, Mastered at K-Disc, Los Angeles, US. First pressing with wide label rings (see Images). No barcode. No Rainbo Records S/S etchings in runouts.

 · The far more lightweight “It’s Not Funny Anymore” is more melodic and includes a cool guitar riff by Mould, and is a sign of the differences between songwriters Mould and Grant. Mould was an angry, humorless guy, sort of like a Midwest Ian MacKaye, which got old after a : Michael H. Little.

  • Ah, Metal Circus–one of the Hüsker's finest moments. Bridging the gap between hardcore punk and melodic alternative, Metal Circus is fast, abrasive yet beautiful, and a great EP/mini-album. My favorite record by the harcore pioneers from Minneapolis/St. Paul after Zen Arcade. As for this repressing, it's really good. Great, even.
